Lille struggles with Zhegrova after failed Napoli transfer
According to a report from L'Équipe, Lille OSC president Olivier Létang regrets his decision to keep hold of Edon Zhegrova in the winter transfer window, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
The club had received a 20 million euros bid for the winger from SSC Napoli, who were looking for a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who was moving to Paris Saint-Germain.
The president reportedly told Zhegrova that once he returned from injury, there would be interest from bigger clubs than the Serie A champions, and there were talks to extend his contract for another year, but with a gentlemen's agreement that he would be sold.
However, Zhegrova never returned from injury and an extension was never reached.
This leaves Les Dogues with a player who wants to leave, no longer trains with the team and is entering the final year of his contract.
L'Équipe reports that Létang has set the club's asking price at over 20 euros, with La Voix du Nord suggesting it could be around 25 million euros.
Lille have been active in the market, bringing in Marius Broholm and are on the verge of securing a move for Manchester City and Juventus academy player Felix Correia. However, question marks remain over their readiness for the French top flight.
