Swiss Team Wins Balchik Regatta
The Ultimate Balchik Match Race 2025 concluded on Monday with the Swiss team CER, led by Nelson Metro, securing first place. Poland’s Piotr Harasimowicz finished second, while Samuel Karadzhiyan of Port Burgas Yacht Club claimed third after a close race with Mikhail Berberov of Port Varna Yacht Club, CE Report quotes BTA
Held from June 26 to 29 in Balchik, the regatta featured qualifiers, semi-finals, and finals. The last day brought challenging conditions with gusty north-northwest winds reaching up to 25 knots.
The event was judged by an international panel, including Luigi Bertini (Italy), Neven Baran (Croatia), and chief judge Stanislav Viktorov. Organized by the Varna Ultramarine Sailing Sports Club with support from BORA Sailing, the regatta is part of the European Match Race Tour and World Sailing (Grade 3) calendar.
