Europe's premier club competition, the Champions League, is getting closer to revealing who will be its champion. According to Opta, however, it is now possible to predict who will lift the trophy at the end of the season. Barcelona are increasingly seen as the favourites for the title.

According to the supercomputer at Opta, a website specializing in numbers, Barcelona has a 23.1% chance of being crowned champions. PSG are next, with 19.3%. Arsenal complete the Top 3, with a 15.6% chance, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

"Opta" also shows the teams' chances of advancing to the semi-finals. In addition to the aforementioned trio, Inter is also expected to remain in the competition. The teams with the greatest chances of advancing to the final are Barça and Paris Saint-Germain.

The mechanism takes into account the odds at the bookmaker and the ranking established in its database. The figures are based on the team's recent performance. In case of loss, for example, the team's odds fall. Just as they increase in case of victory.

Barcelona and PSG's chances of reaching at least the semi-finals are due to the fact that the teams will face two of the least favourites in the Champions League: Borussia Dortmund and Aston Villa. Despite being the reigning champions, Real Madrid are only the fifth favourite.

The Champions League title will be decided on May 31. The current season's final will take place at Munich's Allianz Arena.
