
New Landmark: Transylvania Bridge
The Transylvania Bridge, Romania's longest cable-stayed bridge and the largest public investment in the past 30 years, officially opened on Friday in Satu Mare. Mayor Kereskenyi Gabor called it a symbol of progress and unity that will be remembered for generations. Built by Strabag for around RON 200 million, the 644-meter four-lane bridge began construction in May 2020 and carries a 15-year warranty. It’s an engineering marvel with two 73-meter-high pillars and 56 steel cables, weighing 227 tons and supporting over 12,000 tons.
