“As of tonight, the Croatian people have a legitimate representative in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said on X following Darijana Filipović’s victory in the election for the Croat member of the body.

Plenković said he had congratulated Darijana Filipović on her “excellent campaign and convincing and well-deserved victory as the Croat member of the Presidency of BiH,” CE Report quotes HINA.

“As of tonight, the Croatian people in BiH have a legitimate representative in this institution,” the Croatian prime minister stressed.

In his congratulatory message, Plenković also said that “HDZ BiH and its coalition partners achieved an excellent result at all levels of government.”

“We remain committed to further developing the close relations between Croatia and BiH following the formation of the new government, as well as to supporting the Croatian people, who once again tonight demonstrated responsibility and determination in protecting their interests,” the Croatian prime minister concluded.

According to preliminary results after more than 94 percent of polling stations had been counted, Darijana Filipović won more than 107,000 votes and became the new Croat member of the Presidency of BiH, securing a convincing victory over her opponents, Slaven Kovačević of Željko Komšić’s Democratic Front and Zdenko Lučić, who was the candidate of the five-party Croatian opposition coalition.

HDZ BiH President Dragan Čović said that the party had also won in all Bosnia and Herzegovina’s cantons where Croats constitute the majority of the population.
