European Parliament to debate EU enlargement, budget, energy prices
European Parliament lawmakers will discuss preparations this week in Strasbourg for the meeting of EU leaders, who are expected to debate EU enlargement, the bloc’s next long-term budget and high energy prices at a summit in the middle of the month.
The debate on the upcoming summit with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will take place tomorrow, CE Report quotes STA.
High energy costs, which have been weighing on European businesses and households for several months, are also expected to be at the centre of Wednesday’s debate on the rising cost of living for citizens. On Tuesday, MEPs will discuss a recently presented legal framework aimed at making it easier for member states to take action in response to the housing crisis.
In addition, the agenda for the first of two October plenary sessions includes debates on the recent Russian elections, EU-China relations and a proposed act aimed at protecting children online.
