Bosnia Border Police stop 96 migrants from illegal crossing

Members of the Gradiška Unit of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, prevented 96 people from illegally crossing the state border on September 2, 2026.

The smuggling attempt was uncovered during state border surveillance on two separate occasions. In the afternoon, 63 people were prevented from illegally crossing the state border in the village of Bistrica: 40 Pakistani nationals and 23 Bangladeshi nationals, CE Report informs via the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina's official website.

Acting on the order of the duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an investigation was carried out, two boats were seized, and two individuals were identified as suspected smugglers.

Later the same evening, also in Bistrica, another 33 people were prevented from illegally crossing the state border: two Pakistani nationals, 13 Bangladeshi nationals, and 18 Afghan nationals.

The Foreigners’ Affairs Service, Banja Luka Field Centre, was informed about the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
