Erdogan, Putin discuss Black Sea, Ukraine

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in the Black Sea and the possibility of holding talks in Türkiye on a settlement to Russia’s war against Ukraine during their meeting in Bishkek.

“As far as I know, the main topic was the situation in the Black Sea,” the outlet quoted Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov as saying.

Erdogan and Putin also discussed the possibility of holding negotiations in Türkiye aimed at resolving Russia’s war against Ukraine.

“Yes, the Turkish side keeps offering this at different levels,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying.

The meeting between the two leaders in Bishkek was also attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and National Intelligence Organization chief Ibrahim Kalin.

The sides discussed bilateral relations, including energy cooperation and the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant by Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom.

As reported, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held an informal trilateral meeting with the leaders of Russia and Belarus, Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko.
