NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated in Podgorica that there are actors trying to disrupt progress and destabilize the Western Balkans, but that the Alliance remains firmly committed to leaving the problems of the past behind.

“We will expose and confront any malicious activities on NATO territory,” Rutte stressed during a joint press conference with Milojko Spajić.

During the meeting, Rutte highlighted the importance of Montenegro as an “exporter of security” and a valued member of the transatlantic family, emphasizing that the country has 31 allies guaranteeing its security, CE Report quotes FENA.

“There are actors trying to push the Western Balkans backwards.”

“You (Montenegro) also contribute to KFOR, NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. Montenegro promotes peace and stability throughout the Western Balkans, a region of great strategic importance for NATO,” he said.
