Montenegro police investigate alleged arson in Herceg Novi
Officers of the Security Department of Herceg Novi, acting on the order of the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Herceg Novi, have arrested D.V. (40), a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of destruction and damage to someone else’s property.
A.C. (48), a citizen of the Republic of Slovenia, is being sought on suspicion of committing the same offense, CE Report informs via the Montenegrin government website.
Police officers from the Herceg Novi Security Department have solved the case and identified A.C. and D.V. as suspects who, on February 26, 2026, at around 00:30, allegedly entered Montenegro from Croatia together by vehicle.
It is further suspected that at around 01:40 in Igalo, in the municipality of Herceg Novi, in a parking area of a residential building, they used an incendiary substance and an appropriate tool to set fire to a passenger vehicle owned by a Serbian citizen with temporary residence in Herceg Novi, after which they left the territory of Montenegro.
Police officers yesterday, during an attempt by D.V. to enter Montenegro at the Vraćenovići border crossing, carried out a control and subsequently brought him to the premises of the Herceg Novi Security Department for further proceedings.
After collecting information, he was arrested and, within the legal deadline, brought before the competent prosecutor for further jurisdiction and action.
Police officers are continuing measures and actions to locate the second suspect, A.C., a citizen of the Republic of Slovenia.
