Divers from the Regional Diving Center in Bijela, Montenegro, are continuing the search for a person who fell into the water after a vessel capsized on May 2 at the exit of the Plavnički Canal on Skadar Lake.

In the accident, former Zeta and Dečić football player Mladen Kaluđerović was killed, while a third person who was also on board was not injured, the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office stated.

The circumstances of the accident are still being investigated by the competent authorities, CE Report quotes FENA.

The Diving Center announced that the search will be intensified today and expanded to a wider area.

Center representative Danilo Mijajlović said that in the next phase, specialized underwater equipment, including underwater drones, will also be used to enable a more detailed and efficient search of the terrain.

During Sunday, diving teams searched the accident area at locations identified based on eyewitness statements. However, as Mijajlović noted, due to the conditions in which the accident occurred, information about the exact location remains imprecise, which makes it difficult to clearly define the search zone.

For now, it is not known how the accident in the Plavnički Canal in Zeta occurred.

Following the tragedy, the Municipality of Zeta declared a Day of Mourning.
