Albania welcomes EP's resolution backing EU enlargement strategy
The Chairman of the Socialist Party’s parliamentary group of Albania, Taulant Balla, welcomed the European Parliament’s adoption of the resolution on the European Union Enlargement Strategy, which was endorsed with 385 votes in favour.
Through a social media post, Taulant Balla, described this development as an important political signal in support of the enlargement process and of the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries, CE Report quotes ATA.
He underlined that the resolution acknowledges Albania’s progress in the EU accession negotiations and recognizes the country’s ambition to conclude the process of negotiations by the end of 2027.
According to Balla, the European Parliament’s assessment of Albania’s progress confirms the commitment of Albanian institutions to continue implementing the necessary reforms within the framework of the European integration process and to meet the standards required by the European Union.
He further regarded as encouraging the European Parliament’s appeal to EU institutions, particularly the Council of the European Union, to remove existing barriers and to strengthen the credibility of the enlargement process.
According to Balla, a merit‑based and credible enlargement process is essential for the stability and democratic development of the region. The resolution adopted by the European Parliament is regarded as an important political endorsement for the further advancement of Albania’s negotiations with the European Union and for strengthening the country’s European perspective.
