US, Albania discuss NATO cooperation, regional security
Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, held what she described as a substantive meeting with the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Allison Hooker, who is responsible for U.S. political relations with allies worldwide, during her visit to Washington.
Spiropali said the meeting focused on issues that directly affect Albania’s interests: security within the framework of NATO, stability in the Western Balkans, as well as concrete steps to deepen the economic and strategic partnership between the two countries, ensuring that Albania’s voice is heard where decisions are made, CE Report quotes ATA.
“Today, Albania is treated as a reliable ally that stands by its partners and makes a real contribution to the security and stability of the region,” Spiropali stated in a post on social media, where she also shared moments from the meeting.
“Our partnership with the United States is not a matter of protocol or photo opportunities. It is a relationship built on shared interests, values and responsibilities,” the Albanian chief diplomat concluded.
The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, visited Washington last week, where she held several meetings at the U.S. Congress, focusing on deepening cooperation between Albania and the United States in several areas.
