US President Donald Trump announced that tariffs imposed on South Korea on automobiles, timber, pharmaceuticals, and all other reciprocal goods have been raised from 15% to 25% after the country failed to implement a trade agreement.

Trump made the announcement in a post on his social media account, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.

Emphasizing that trade agreements are very important for the United States, Trump said that in each agreement, the US moves quickly to reduce tariffs in line with the agreed terms.

He added that he expects the same approach from trade partners, claiming that the South Korean parliament failed to comply with the agreement reached with the United States.

Trump recalled that a “major deal” had been reached with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on July 30, 2025, and that the terms were reaffirmed during his visit to the country on October 29, 2025.

“Korea’s parliament has chosen not to implement our historic trade agreement, which is their decision. As a result, I am raising automobile, timber, pharmaceutical, and all other reciprocal tariffs on South Korea from 15% to 25%,” Trump said.
