Moldova’s justice ministry sets priorities for 2026
The Ministry of Justice of Moldova is entering 2026 with a clear set of strategic objectives aimed at modernizing the judicial system and bringing it closer to European standards.
Minister of Justice Vladislav Cojuhari said that the current year will be decisive for aligning national legislation with European Union law, digitalizing judicial processes, and strengthening key institutions in the sector, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
“For 2026, our priorities are clear. We will focus on aligning national legislation with EU law, accelerating the digitalization of justice, and consolidating institutions so that justice becomes more efficient, more predictable, and closer to citizens. The ultimate goal remains increasing public trust in a functional and integrity-based justice system,” the Minister of Justice said.
Top 5 priority directions for 2026:
Harmonizing the legislation of the Republic of Moldova with EU law.
Accelerating the digitalization of justice, including the development of electronic platforms.
Institutional consolidation through effective management, transparency, and accountability mechanisms.
Increasing the independence and integrity of the sector by continuing evaluation processes.
Improving citizens’ access to justice.
The minister reiterated that last year the Ministry of Justice focused on strengthening reforms and advancing Moldova’s European agenda. A major objective was the preparation and support of negotiations on rule-of-law-related chapters, as well as the continuation of the external evaluation of judges and prosecutors — an essential process for cleansing the system.
In 2025, the foundations were also laid for modernizing court infrastructure and digitalizing legal services, an important step toward improving the efficiency of justice and reducing bureaucracy.
