Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced a new government amendment that will abolish unfair commissions charged by banks and ATM service providers. In a TikTok video on Tuesday, Mitsotakis said the government is stepping in after some institutions exploited loopholes in previous regulations set last December, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonia

The new measure eliminates fees for ATM withdrawals from other banks within the DIAS system, as well as from third-party providers linked to the user's bank. It also sets limits on charges from independent service providers.

“Bank services must serve citizens, not burden them unfairly,” Mitsotakis emphasized.
