PASOK Warns of Pension Cuts

Politics

PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) spokesperson Kostas Tsoukalas criticized the government’s proposed labor bill, warning it will lead to significantly lower pensions for workers, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonia

Tsoukalas said the current law exempts overtime and bonuses from insurance contributions to encourage employers to officially declare them. However, the new bill would extend this exemption to voluntary bonuses, which could allow employers to label regular wages as “voluntary,” avoiding insurance contributions.

He cited cases where employers already pay workers €1,000 as a “voluntary bonus” instead of a regular salary. If such payments are not insured, Tsoukalas warned, “workers will be left with meager pensions in the future.”
