After approval by the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee of the report on Albania, the Speaker of the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, stated in a reaction that the goal of joining the European Union within the decade enjoys broad support, CE Report quotes ATA.

"The approval by the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee of the report on Albania reconfirms our rapid progress towards EU membership, positioning us as a frontrunner among candidate countries moving determinedly towards the European family. The report acknowledges the achievements of democratic and integration reforms, the independence of the judiciary, and the fight against organized crime, corruption, and impunity," Spiropali said.

The Speaker of Parliament emphasized that "our national strategic objective to open all negotiation chapters by June, to conclude negotiations by 2027, and to join the EU within this decade now has broad support from the European Parliament, the European Commission, and is gaining support from member states as well."

Spiropali also thanked the rapporteur Andreas Schieder "for realistically reflecting Albania’s achievements, and the members of parliament who overwhelmingly supported the report."
