Androulakis: Gaza Is Ethnic Cleansing

Politics

PASOK-KINAL leader Nikos Androulakis strongly criticized the Greek government's delayed response to the crisis in Gaza, calling the situation "ethnic cleansing, not lawful defense," in an interview with Mega TV on Thursday, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

He stressed that while Hamas was rightly condemned and Israel has a right to defend itself, this "cannot justify ethnic cleansing." He urged all European nations to demand an immediate end to the violence.

Androulakis also criticized Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for aligning too closely with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, saying this stance dishonors Greece’s commitment to international law and human rights. "We respect international law. That is our culture and our historical experience," he said, referencing Greece’s stance on Cyprus and Ukraine.

He also took aim at domestic issues, accusing the government of hypocrisy over ending job permanency in the civil service despite earlier promises of meritocracy, and condemned the mismanagement of EU agricultural funds, which he warned could cost taxpayers over €300 million.
