Zelenskyy: Ukraine Ready for 30-Day Ceasefire If Russia Complies

Politics

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Wednesday that Kyiv is open to a 30-day ceasefire if Russia adheres to it, rejecting claims that Ukraine does not seek to end the war, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Speaking to Ukrainian media, Zelenskyy stressed, “We do not believe the Russians, but we will not play with narratives suggesting we don’t want peace.” He emphasized that his NATO partners must see Ukraine’s commitment to ending the war.

Regarding possible sanctions if Russia violates the ceasefire, Zelenskyy said it is premature to discuss them, as much will depend on U.S. dialogue with Moscow.

He also noted that security guarantees for Ukraine were discussed between U.S. and Russian delegations in Saudi Arabia, calling the joint statement from the talks a “positive signal.” Further discussions will take place if a ceasefire is implemented.
