Trump Administration Struggles to Reinstate Fired Nuclear Safety Workers

Politics

The Trump administration is facing challenges reinstating federal nuclear safety workers it recently fired, as many have lost access to their government email accounts, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), responsible for overseeing the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile, terminated several employees as part of broader federal job cuts. However, the agency later attempted to reverse some of the firings but lacked updated contact information, NBC reported.

An internal email urged current employees to notify affected colleagues that some termination letters had been rescinded. One nuclear safety specialist confirmed her job was reinstated but remained locked out of her email. While planning to return, she expressed concerns about job stability.

The job cuts, backed by President Trump and billionaire Elon Musk—head of the unofficial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—have drawn criticism from Democrats, labor unions, and advocacy groups. More than 60 lawsuits challenging the administration’s actions are currently pending.
