Osmani declines to comment on Gërvalla’s "self-proclaimed general" remark

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, refused to comment on the statement of her former party colleague and leader of the Guxo List, Donika Gërvalla, regarding the head of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, referring to him as a "self-proclaimed general", CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

"I do not follow such statements," Osmani briefly responded when asked by KosovaPress how she evaluates Gërvalla’s remark.

Labeling AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj as a "self-proclaimed general," as stated by Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla, cost the Vetëvendosje Movement 10,000 euros. This is the heaviest fine imposed by the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel on this political entity in its decisions on January 29, 2025.

During her speech, Gërvalla stated that the opposition "does not know and does not want to govern Kosovo," while referring to the candidate for prime minister from the Winning Kosovo coalition, Ramush Haradinaj, as the "hero of Çakorr" and a "self-proclaimed general."

President Vjosa Osmani paid tribute at the statue of hero Zahir Pajaziti on the 28th anniversary of his fall, along with two other heroes, Hakif Zejnullahu and Edmond Hoxha.

Osmani honored the sacrifice, bravery, and courage of the Kosovo heroes, stating that "they became the heralds of freedom and inspired entire generations of the KLA to join the liberation struggle."

She emphasized that the freedom and sovereignty for which these heroes sacrificed must be continuously defended.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti, along with ministers and other members of his cabinet, also paid tribute.

Leaders of political parties and candidates for deputies also gathered at the statue of Zahir Pajaziti in Pristina.
