Kaczynski Urges Anti-Migrant Protest
At a Tuesday press conference, Law and Justice (PiS) leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski announced plans for a nationwide protest against illegal migration and the EU migration pact, accusing Germany and Brussels of trying to impose migrant burdens on Poland, CE Report quotes PAP
Kaczynski said the demonstration would pressure the government to reject proposed migrant centers and “measures meant to bring misfortune to Poland.”
Government spokesman Adam Szlapka called the move “hypocrisy,” noting that under PiS rule, Poland saw a record influx of migrants. He accused Kaczynski of promoting xenophobia and stoking tensions for political gain.
The announcement comes weeks after temporary border checks were reinstated with Germany and Lithuania. Around the same time, members of the nationalist Border Defence Movement (ROG) began patrolling the Polish-German border. Founded by activist Robert Bakiewicz, ROG claims to defend Poland from mass migration but has been accused of unlawful activities and undermining security forces.
