Poland Begins Evacuations from Middle East
Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Henryka Mościcka-Dendys announced Tuesday that two evacuation flights have been arranged for Polish citizens amid escalating conflict in the Middle East, CE Report quotes PAP
Due to Israeli airspace closure, evacuees will travel by land to Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, and Amman, Jordan. A charter flight from Egypt is scheduled for Wednesday, followed by a military flight from Jordan on Thursday. So far, around 200 Poles have requested evacuation.
Mościcka-Dendys also urged Polish nationals in Iran to leave by land. The ministry plans to evacuate non-essential embassy staff and six other citizens via Baku, Azerbaijan.
The evacuations follow a surge in hostilities after Israel's airstrike on Iranian nuclear and military targets last week, prompting a retaliatory drone and missile attack by Iran.
