Nawrocki Confirmed as Poland’s New President

Marciniak, head of the PKW, officially confirmed the election of Nawrocki as Poland’s new president. Nawrocki, who secured 29.54% of the vote in the first round on May 18, will begin his five-year term in August, CE Report quotes PAP

Rafal Trzaskowski, Warsaw’s mayor from the centrist Civic Coalition (KO), secured 49.11% in the second round. Nawrocki received 10,606,877 votes, winning by 369,591 votes (1.78%) over Trzaskowski.

The turnout was 71.63%, the highest since 1990. Out of 29 million eligible voters, over 21 million participated, with invalid votes accounting for 0.9% of the total.
