Wildfire Threatens Poland's National Park

Poland

A wildfire broke out Sunday afternoon in Poland’s largest national park, covering 65,000 hectares and home to rare marshlands, birds, lynx, wolves, and elk. The fire began in dry meadows and reeds, CE Report quotes PAP

As of Monday, officials say the fire isn’t spreading, though it hasn’t been fully located. “That’s important news,” said province governor Jacek Brzozowski, who assured the public there’s no threat to nearby residents. A crisis team was formed in response, and helicopters and aircraft have been deployed to assist.
