Lamine Yamal fires playful warning at Real Madrid's Marc Cucurella
Lamine Yamal has already begun psychological games ahead of next season’s El Clásico, sending a humorous but also provocative message to his Spain national team teammate Marc Cucurella, who recently moved from Chelsea to Real Madrid.
Speaking from Spain’s camp at the 2026 World Cup, the 18-year-old Barcelona star said he has already joked with the defender about the matches awaiting them in La Liga, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
“I told him he’ll start the first match as a starter and the second one on the bench, because I’m going to eat him alive,” Yamal said.
The Barcelona star also addressed his relationship with Real Madrid players, recalling his clash with Dani Carvajal last season. After criticizing Madrid players for complaining about refereeing decisions, Carvajal confronted Yamal at the end of an El Clásico.
“No, I don’t regret it. It’s football. They won that match, but then they lost at our ground. Since then I haven’t spoken to Carvajal and I don’t talk to anyone from Real Madrid,” he said.
Yamal also commented on Barcelona’s transfer market, saying he would welcome the arrival of Spain teammate Mikel Oyarzabal. He also praised Julián Álvarez, but stressed that signing decisions are up to sporting director Deco.
“I’m a fan of Oyarzabal and I also really like Julián Álvarez. But that’s Deco’s job and he’s doing it very well. We’ll support whoever comes and we’ll be very happy with them,” Yamal concluded.
