
EU Clears Path for ReArm Package
The European Commission has recommended that the EU Council activate national safeguard clauses for 15 of the 16 countries that requested an exemption from the Stability and Growth Pact rules in order to increase defense spending under the ReArm-Readiness package, CE Report quotes ANSA.
These countries are: Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Greece, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Finland.
Germany has also submitted a request but is expected to present its medium-term national budget plan by the end of July, at which point a recommendation may follow.
