The X Factor reportedly set for revival with new format

Recent reports in the British media suggest that FremantleMedia Limited, the company behind the format, is believed to be backing Simon Cowell in an effort to revive “The X Factor,” the television talent show that discovered young artists who went on to become some of the biggest names in music.

A source told The Sun that the revamped “The X Factor” is expected to feature an entirely different television format, with social media deeply integrated into the programme and a strong focus on attracting Generation Z, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

“It is a way of attracting a younger audience, which once made up the majority of the talent show’s viewers. People who watched ‘The X Factor’ from the beginning are now in their forties and fifties and are more likely to follow it through traditional methods — either watching it on Saturday night or catching up later through ITVX,” the source said.

The format was last broadcast in 2018 and helped introduce a number of new names to the music industry who later became major stars. Among them was the boy band One Direction, which went on to break numerous records and become one of the most successful groups in music history.

For viewers in Kosovo, the format also carries a sense of nostalgia from the period when Kosovo-born singer Rita Ora served as a judge during the 2015 edition. The contestant mentored by Ora, Louisa Johnson, went on to win the entire competition that year.

Who will sit on the judging panel, when new auditions will begin and when the revived programme could be broadcast remains to be seen.
