Italian cinema faces growing uncertainty
“Cinema must continue on its path because it is our path.
Today, the film community is expressing widespread concern about the future, CE Report quotes ANSA.
In this regard, I have received—and read with genuine interest—a document from associations in the cinema and audiovisual sector. I am confident—also after listening to Minister Giuli’s remarks—that a balance can be found between the different needs,” said the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, at the ceremony presenting the nominees for the “David di Donatello” awards.
“I share the view that it would be inappropriate to treat the future of the audiovisual sector as merely a request for support. What is needed is dialogue, open discussion, without preconceptions. In the face of difficulties,” Mattarella stressed, “cooperation between institutions and sector stakeholders can act as a multiplier of resources and energy.”
“I wish all of you—and also your colleagues who are not here today, the entire film industry—to move forward, to be bold, and to develop and realize your projects freely,” the President of the Republic finally concluded.
