Spotify to label AI-generated artist profiles
Streaming giant Spotify announced that it will launch a new label, “AI Persona,” in mid-September, allowing users to clearly identify content generated by AI rather than real people, AFP reports.
“Listeners have told us very clearly that they don’t want to see an artist profile that appears human, only to discover that it is actually an AI-generated personality,” Spotify said in a statement.
The move is part of a series of recent efforts by the Swedish company to increase transparency about how music on its platform is produced, amid growing concerns in the music industry over the risk of streaming catalogues becoming saturated with AI-generated content, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
In April, the company introduced the “Spotify Verified” label, indicating that a profile had been reviewed and met the platform’s authenticity standards.
“In addition to artist profiles that identify themselves as AI Personas, we will begin applying these labels to relevant profiles,” the company said.
Spotify will not include AI Personas in its editorial or personalized recommendations, except when a user follows an AI Persona, the company added.
