Moldova Introduces New Energy Labels for Appliances

Energy

Moldova is set to introduce new energy labels for a range of household appliances, in line with European Union regulations. The government approved the draft today, aiming to reduce energy consumption in the residential sector, which makes up about half of the country's total energy use, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The new labels will apply to products such as refrigerators, heating appliances, ventilation units, boilers, temperature controllers, solar devices, smartphones, and tablets. Additional updates will regulate energy labels for tumble dryers, air conditioners, ovens, kitchen hoods, and heating systems.

These labels are expected to help speed up the integration of household appliances into the EcoVoucher program, which aims to replace energy-inefficient devices. Experts predict that the move will cut greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 268,000 tons of CO2.

As most imported equipment already meets EU energy label standards, local distributors won’t face extra costs.
