Director Paul Thomas Anderson, for the film “One Battle After Another”, won the top prize at the 78th annual Directors Guild of America Awards (DGA Awards).

The event, which honors the year’s most significant achievements in directing for film and television, was hosted by Oscar- and Emmy-nominated comedian Kumail Nanjiani, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.

The 78th DGA Awards ceremony took place in Beverly Hills.

The DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film has long been seen as a predictor for the Oscar for Best Director.

Upon receiving the award, Paul Thomas Anderson dedicated much of his speech to paying tribute to his late collaborator, assistant director Adam Somner, who passed away in 2024.

The award for Outstanding Drama Series went to Amanda Marsalis for the episode “6:00 PM” of the series The Pitt.
