Zootropolis 2: Best global launch of 2025
Zootropolis 2 does not disappoint.
In fact, it exceeds expectations and opens with a record-breaking debut: with 556.4 million dollars, it is the best global launch of 2025.
The international box office accounts for 400 million, CE Report quotes ANSA.
In theaters in the United States and Canada, the more than 156 million earned from Wednesday to Sunday give Disney’s animated sequel the second-best Thanksgiving opening ever, behind only last year’s Moana 2.
Early estimates for the entire long weekend indicate a total domestic gross for all films on release close to 300 million. Hollywood celebrates the third-best Thanksgiving in its history, behind last year’s all-time record of 425 million and the 316 million of 2018, when Ralph Breaks the Internet (also from Disney) led the market.
Oz provides the second course of this rich Thanksgiving menu. Wicked – Part 2 from Universal earns 63 million over the weekend and 93 million over the 5-day holiday stretch, bringing the national total to 271 million for Jon M. Chu’s musical starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande and produced by Marc Platt.
In third place is The Perfect Illusion – Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, which grosses 6.9 million over the standard three days and 10 million including Wednesday and Thursday. The third Lionsgate chapter about the Horsemen of Magic, directed by Ruben Fleischer, thus reaches 50 million after three weekends in theaters.
Fourth position goes to Disney’s Predator: Badlands, the latest chapter of the sci-fi horror saga that began nearly forty years ago: it earns 4.4 million from Friday, over 6 million for the full five-day holiday period, for a total of almost 84 million after a month in cinemas.
Rounding out the top five is The Running Man, which reunites Glen Powell and cult director Edgar Wright. Without any particular fireworks, the Paramount action film holds on after three weeks and earns almost 4 million over the classic weekend and 5.5 million since Wednesday, reaching 34 million total in North America.
