David Beckham receives royal recognition, becomes “Sir David”

Former English footballer David Beckham was officially awarded the title of “Knight” by King Charles III during a ceremony at Windsor Castle.

“For a boy from East London to be here at Windsor Castle, honoured by His Majesty, is truly a great moment,” the English football legend told the media after the ceremony.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder and his wife are now known as Sir David and Lady Victoria, CE Report quotes ATA.

David Beckham, aged 50, was knighted for his services to sport and charitable organizations.

The former England international has partnered with UNICEF and led campaigns for “Malaria No More,” an organization working to eradicate malaria.

Twice a year — on New Year’s Day and the official birthday of the monarch on June 14 — Britons are honored for their contributions to society.

More than 1,200 people were included in the June 2025 Honours List.
