The sixth Sofia DocuMental International Documentary Film Festival will be held from September 25 to October 5, 2025, under the motto “Natural Intelligence Strikes Back.” The festival will feature nearly 30 Bulgarian premieres, including globally acclaimed titles, CE Report quotes BTA

Organizers described the festival as a platform where documentary cinema serves as both resistance and connection in an unpredictable world. This year’s program explores the fragility of democracy, women's empowerment beyond traditional roles, and personal revolutions born from unexpected moments.

The festival’s visual campaign is inspired by analog games—like puzzles, memory, and crosswords—reflecting themes such as identity, freedom of expression, technology's influence, and humanity's link to nature.

Screenings and events will be held across various Sofia venues including Cinema House, Odeon, the Goethe-Institut, and others, with some content available online.
