‘How to Train Your Dragon’ Live-Action Tops Italian Box Office

A new weak weekend at the Italian box office for the weekend of June 19-22, partly due to the early summer heat, CE Report quotes ANSA.

As in the USA, according to data from Cinetel, the live-action set in the legendary North of 'How to Train Your Dragon' is the most-watched film in Italian cinemas.

Distributed by Universal, it closed its second weekend with €1,632,971 (-31%) and an average of €3,240 across 504 cinemas, for a total of €5,624,256.

In second place, the Disney Pixar animated film Elio debuted, earning €643,876 with an average of €1,361 in 473 cinemas, totaling €758,307 in five days.

Third place went to Danny Boyle's horror 28 Years Later, which started with €517,371 and an average of €1,685 in 307 cinemas, totaling €623,098 in five days.

Following the podium is the recent blockbuster Lilo & Stitch, with €486,841 (-52%) and an average of €1,517 in 321 cinemas (-141 from the previous weekend). The Disney live-action has now reached €20,772,496, ranking ninth in box office earnings since 2021.

In fifth place, the action film Ballerina dropped to €231,739 (-55%) with an average of €702 in 330 cinemas (-11), totaling €915,472.

Sixth place went to Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning with €99,355 (-50%) and an average of €736 in 135 cinemas (-122). The Tom Cruise saga finale has reached €4,246,466.

Il maestro e Margherita debuted in seventh with €89,684 and an average of €954 in 94 cinemas.

Karate Kid: Legends slid to eighth with €79,368 (-64%) and an average of €579 in 137 cinemas (-215), totaling €965,149.

Ninth place saw the debut of Tre amiche with €78,474 and an average of €720 in 109 cinemas.

Closing the Italian and auteur cinema Top Ten is Fuori, Mario Martone’s film, which earned €41,962 (-44%) with an average of €666 in 63 cinemas (-129), reaching a very good total of €1,678,557.

The weekend of June 19-22 ended with €4,319,519 (571,542 admissions) across 2,759 screens, a 70% drop in box office compared to the weekend of June 20-23, 2024.
