Theatre 199 Turns 60

Valentin Stoichev Theatre 199 celebrates its 60th anniversary on June 12 with a series of special events. To mark the occasion, the theatre will expand its iconic Wall of Fame by adding five new casts of renowned Bulgarian actors: Ivaylo Hristov, Julian Vergov, Svetlana Yancheva, Iva Todorova, and Doroteya Toncheva, CE Report quotes BTA

The new panels are designed by Momchil Simeonov, continuing the legacy of Eng. Simeon Simeonov, a co-creator of the original wall. Caricatures of the honored actors will be drawn by cartoonist Ivaylo Ninov. The new additions will be unveiled before the theatre’s next premiere.

Also on the anniversary day, a panel discussion titled “Chamber Theatre – Before and Now” will explore the evolution of chamber theatre in Bulgaria, followed by a special screening of a Bulgarian National Television documentary celebrating the theatre’s history.
