Britney Spears arrested and released for suspected drunk driving
American singer Britney Spears was arrested on Wednesday night and taken into custody in California, later being released, according to public records from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office near Los Angeles.
The 44-year-old performer of “Oops!... I Did It Again” was arrested for driving under the influence, according to police sources and several U.S. tabloids, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
The sheriff’s records show that she was held at the station overnight and released early Thursday morning after being issued a citation, as is customary in such cases when someone drives after consuming alcohol or drugs.
Spears will have to appear in court on May 4.
