Culture

Ukraine has received permission and is preparing to conduct exhumation work in Poland this year.

This was announced at a briefing in Ternopil by Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications (MCSC) Andrii Najos, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

“We have already received permission to carry out work in Poland and are preparing for it. We need to form our own expedition. We have seen the equipment and number of people used by the Polish expedition in Puzhnyki, and we need to prepare for work in Poland in the same professional manner. For us, this is not a story of the distant future, but of the near future, which may be this summer. When we have finally formed the expedition, we will announce the details, including the location of the work,” Najos said.

According to him, the excavations in Poland will be funded by Ukraine.

“We are currently calculating how much money is needed for this. We are talking about at least 1 million hryvnias. We will look for these funds because this is our memory,” the deputy minister said.

He added that in total, about 20 applications for exhumation work have been submitted by the Polish and Ukrainian sides.

As reported, the next stage of joint search and exhumation work is to take place in Poland.
