French Film Festival Returns to Romania, Showcasing Generations of Cinema

The French Film Festival is set to take place from March 20 to 30 across 12 cities in Romania, marking the start of the Primavara Franceza IMPREUNA – PRINTEMPS FRANCAIS ENSEMBLE (French Spring Together) event season, the French Institute in Cluj announced, CE Report quotes Agerpres

This year's theme, Echos, explores how stories and images resonate across generations, focusing on memory, renewal, and the evolution of cinema. The festival presents a diverse lineup of essential works and emerging talents, with Cluj-Napoca hosting screenings of 13 recent French films from March 20 to 23 at Cinema Victoria.

The official opening on March 20 at 8:00 PM will feature Monsieur Aznavour, a biographical musical about the legendary singer Charles Aznavour, directed by Mehdi Idir and Grand Corps Malade. The film, a major box-office success in France, earned four César Award nominations.

Other highlights include Jim’s Story, a road trip drama that won Karim Leklou the César for Best Actor, and Wild Diamond, a Cannes competitor critiquing celebrity culture. The festival also features a Young Talents – Feature Films competition, along with family-friendly screenings of Bambi: A Tale of Life in the Woods and Savages.

The event promises a rich cinematic experience, celebrating the vitality and diversity of French filmmaking.
