BTA Provides Custom LIK Typeface to Diplomatic Institute

On Thursday, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) provided its custom-made LIK typeface to the Diplomatic Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, marking the first step toward standardizing their visual identity. BTA Director General Kiril Valchev presented Diplomatic Institute Director Tanya Mihaylova with a parchment featuring a QR code for the typeface at an event held at the BTA National Press Club, CE Report quotes BTA

Valchev highlighted the symbolic nature of diplomats and legal professionals being among the first to adopt the typeface, emphasizing its intended use for positive purposes. Mihaylova echoed this sentiment, stating that the institute will proudly use LIK, which was originally designed to commemorate BTA’s 127th anniversary and the 60th anniversary of its namesake magazine.

The typeface, rooted in Cyrillic script traditions, was developed for BTA by a team from the National Academy of Arts. While BTA considered requiring attribution for its use, Valchev noted that they ultimately decided against it, with the only condition being that it not be altered or used for misleading or offensive content.

Following the presentation, the Diplomatic Institute’s team toured BTA’s renovated archive and newsroom, recently inaugurated on February 16.
