Fifteen-year-old Malena Zamfirova achieved a milestone for Bulgarian snowboarding by reaching her first European Cup final in alpine snowboarding. Competing in Bansko, Zamfirova secured second place in the parallel giant slalom final, narrowly losing to Canada’s Aurel Monsen. Her strong performance followed an impressive showing at the FIS Snowboard World Cup held in Bansko earlier this month, CE Report quotes BTA

During Tuesday’s competition, Zamfirova posted the fourth-best qualifying time and advanced smoothly through three knockout rounds to reach the final. Another Bulgarian athlete, Aglika Georgieva, finished 25th, placing her in the top 30.

In the men’s event, Bulgaria’s Kristian Georgiev delivered the nation’s best result, finishing seventh. Christoph Karner of Germany claimed victory, defeating Austria’s Yannik Angenend in the final.

The awards were presented by Bansko Mayor Stoycho Banenski and Yulen AD Executive Director Maya Hristoskova. The event featured 91 snowboarders from 19 countries. The European Cup in Bansko continues with another parallel giant slalom event on Wednesday.
