Croatian initiative urges parents to step away from screens for kids

The Croatian Olympic Committee, the Croatian Paralympic Committee, and Allianz Croatia last Monday announced a new season of the socially responsible project "An Hour for Us", with Olympian and project ambassador Janica Kostelić and Paralympian and ambassador Ana Sršen presenting the project.

"An Hour for Us" encourages and invites parents to set aside time each day for their child, with an emphasis on spending quality time together without the distraction of TV, computers, or mobile phones, CE Report quotes HINA.

Numerous studies show that it is precisely through shared activities that a sense of togetherness is built - a fundamental human value that helps a child grow into a healthy and well-rounded individual.

In Croatia, parents spend on average just seven minutes a day in conversation with their children, and most of that time is focused on academic performance. The "An Hour for Us" project aims to open up a dialogue about emotions, safety, emotional closeness, and quality time together - all of which are key to developing resilience in children and maintaining parents' mental well-being.
