Extreme heat grips Greece, temperatures exceed 43°C
Extremely high temperatures prevailed across Greece, particularly in central and southern parts of the country and in Crete, where maximum temperatures locally exceeded 43 degrees Celsius.
According to the network of automatic weather stations operated by the National Observatory of Athens’ meteo.gr service, the highest temperature was recorded in Lefkochori, Fthiotida, where the temperature reached 43.5 degrees Celsius, CE Report quotes ANA-MPA.
Maximum daily temperatures exceeded 40C at 28 stations (around 5% of the network).
Temperatures above 37C were recorded at 138 stations (around 23% of the network).
