Missoni enters new ownership era
The Missoni family has written an open letter to the employees of Missoni following the sale of the majority stake in the company founded by Ottavio Missoni and Rosita Missoni.
The family described the move as “an important and very painful decision, made with a strong sense of responsibility in order to strengthen the future prospects of our beloved company.”
On May 22, FSI, already a shareholder in Missoni with a 41.2% stake, announced that it had become the majority shareholder with approximately 73%, CE Report quotes ANSA.
German group Katjes International, controlled by the Fassin and Bachmüller families, entered the capital with around 27% through its subsidiary Katjes Quiet Luxury.
“We are aware,” the letter continues, “that Missoni is much more than a business — it is a story of family, creativity, passion, and shared commitment” from all employees. At the same time, family members Angela, Luca, Margherita, Ottavio, Jennifer, Francesco, Giacomo, Teresa, Marco, Michelangelo, and Madeleine wrote that “the new path undertaken with the new ownership can offer Missoni further opportunities for growth, development, and international consolidation.”
CEO Livio Proli and the current management team will continue to lead the company “along a path that, despite challenges linked to COVID and the broader geopolitical context, has allowed the company to more than double its revenue, surpassing €130 million, and achieve significant profitability,” according to a company statement.
The new Board of Directors will see Barnaba Ravanne, co-founder and co-managing partner of FSI, take on the role of chairman.
