During her official visit to Skopje, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Elisa Spiropali emphasised that Corridor VIII is a project of high strategic importance, set to create new opportunities and enhance connectivity across the region.

Speaking at a joint press conference with North Macedonia’s Foreign Minister Timčo Mucunski, Spiropali stressed that the inaugural Ministerial for Corridor VIII, set to be held in Tirana in February 2026, should mark a pivotal moment in the institutionalisation of five-party cooperation among Italy, Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Romania, CE Report quotes ATA.

This meeting must deliver concrete results through the adoption of a joint strategic framework, transforming Corridor VIII into a driver of economic development and European integration,” Spiropali stated.

She highlighted that there is still significant potential for economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Minister underlined the need to promote direct investment by removing barriers to reciprocal investment in key sectors such as banking, industry, tourism, and the establishment of joint ventures on each other’s territory.

“We must work harder to foster a business and investment-friendly climate that directly benefits our economies and citizens,” she stated.

Spiropali further underscored that the joint objective is to develop the Albanian–Macedonian region into a strategically significant European hub.

“Let us persist in our efforts to turn this region into a space where the border serves not as a dividing line, but as a point of connection—a bridge for people, commerce, energy, transport, and mutual trust,” concluded the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

As reported by CE Report, Albania's inflation outlook shows improved price stability.
