Michelin Guide now features in Türkiye

Business

With the 2026 selection, the Michelin Guide now features in Türkiye: two restaurants with two Michelin stars, fifteen restaurants with one star, thirty-nine restaurants with a Bib Gourmand distinction, and thirteen restaurants with a green star, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.

Minister Ersoy: “Our efforts to make Turkish cuisine more visible on the international stage are bearing fruit.”

The number of recommended venues in Türkiye reached 115 this year with the addition of 38 new establishments. In total, 171 restaurants have now been selected for Türkiye’s guide.

This year’s selection includes 54 new restaurants, including ones from Cappadocia—listed for the first time. Cappadocia left a strong impression on inspectors with its tradition, hospitality, and terroir.

“This new selection highlights the strength and maturity of Türkiye’s gastronomic identity”

Speaking via video during the ceremony at Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at the Bosphorus, attended by Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Michelin Guide International Director Gwendal Poullennec said:

“This new selection shows the strength and maturity of Türkiye’s gastronomic identity. In Istanbul, İzmir, Muğla, and now Cappadocia, our inspectors identified chefs who boldly embrace creativity while remaining faithful to tradition, place terroir at the center, and commit to more responsible cooking methods. The diversity, talent, and sincerity we encountered across the country confirm the growing depth and confidence of its gastronomic scene.”

Poullennec added that Michelin inspectors included 18 new restaurants from Cappadocia in the 2026 selection, continuing:

“What impressed the inspectors most was the spirit of the region. Beyond legendary Turkish hospitality and enchanting landscapes, Cappadocia offers a warm, relaxed atmosphere that invites guests to savor the simple pleasures of life without haste. This philosophy is reflected in the cuisine. Tradition, respect, and terroir carry deep meaning here. Many chefs remain loyal to recipes and techniques passed down through generations, offering flavors that have survived for centuries and continue to captivate guests today.”

Vino Locale in İzmir receives two Michelin stars

Chef Ozan Kumbasar’s Vino Locale in İzmir, which earned one star in 2024, has now risen to two stars. Turk Fatih Tutak also retained its two-star status, becoming the second restaurant in Türkiye with this rating.

This year, one Michelin star was awarded to Revithia in Nevşehir, Araf İstanbul in Istanbul, and Mezra Yalıkavak in Muğla. With these additions, Türkiye now has 15 one-star restaurants.

Sixteen new Bib Gourmand venues

Introduced in 1997, the Bib Gourmand distinction honors restaurants offering excellent food at reasonable prices. This year’s new additions bring the total number of Bib Gourmand restaurants in Türkiye to 39. The 16 new selections include restaurants from İzmir, Muğla, Nevşehir, Niğde, and Istanbul.

Four restaurants earn the green star

The green star recognizes establishments committed to inspiring sustainable practices. In the 2026 selection, this honor went to Turk Fatih Tutak (Istanbul), Orfoz (Muğla), Teruar Urla (İzmir), and Babayan Evi (Nevşehir).

The Michelin Guide Türkiye also presented three special awards celebrating mastery, dedication, and vision:

Michelin Young Chef Award 2026: Duru Akgül of Yakamengen III in Muğla

Michelin Sommelier Award 2026: Ersin Topkara of Neolokal, Istanbul
Michelin Service Award 2026: Ezgi Serdaroğlu of Teruar Urla, İzmir

Michelin Recommended List 2026

Numerous restaurants across Muğla, Nevşehir, İzmir, and Istanbul were added to the Michelin Recommended list, expanding the guide’s recognition of Türkiye’s rich culinary landscape.

Beyond restaurant selections, the Michelin Guide also presents a curated list of exceptional hotels from Türkiye and around the world. Introduced in 2024, the Michelin Keys distinguish the finest hotels, celebrated much like Michelin-starred restaurants.
