Apple Adds $100B to US Manufacturing Push
Apple announced an additional $100 billion investment in US production on Wednesday, raising its total domestic investment to $600 billion over the next four years, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
CEO Tim Cook, speaking at the White House, said the new funds will expand manufacturing of key components, including $2.5 billion to produce iPhone and Apple Watch cover glass at Corning’s Kentucky plant.
“For the first time ever, every new iPhone and Apple Watch will feature glass made in Kentucky,” Cook stated.
The new package also launches the American Manufacturing Program, with Apple signing deals with 10 US companies to supply components. Cook highlighted efforts to build a full silicon supply chain in the US and noted the company’s role in bringing chipmaker TSMC to Arizona.
In 2025 alone, US manufacturers are expected to produce 19 billion chips for Apple in 24 factories across 12 states. Apple will also source rare earth magnets from MP Materials, the only fully integrated rare earth producer in the US.
Apple is expanding data center capacity in five states as part of broader investments in AI. The announcement follows earlier pressure from President Trump, who in May warned Apple would face a 25% tariff if iPhones aren't made in the US.
