New U.S. tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump took effect Thursday, targeting imports from over 67 countries with rates between 15% and 50%. The highest levies hit goods from India, Brazil, Laos, Myanmar, Switzerland, Iraq, and Serbia, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

India now faces a 50% duty after Trump doubled its tariff in response to its continued purchase of Russian oil. New Delhi slammed the move as "unfair, unjustified, and unreasonable."

Meanwhile, Japan will not receive tariff exemptions it expected under a recent trade deal, with U.S. officials confirming a 15% tariff will apply on top of existing duties. The announcement contradicts Tokyo's interpretation of the agreement.
